The End of Gatlinburg

Friday was our last full day at Gatlinburg. We let daddy and the big kids go shopping while we rested at the cabin. After they got back everyone had to appease me and dress up for the traditional sign taking photo.
Their first ever sign picture.

Saturday we left bright and early to come home. The energizer bunny (Brianne) finally fell asleep after talking us to death. She went to bed at 10PM. We got her up at 3AM, and she was wide awake. Does she never get tired?
We can't wait till we go back again. Maybe we should just move their.

Gatlinburg Part 2

Thursday we spent the day in the park. Lee and I had steak and potatoes, and the kids ate hot dogs.
Brianne played with the wildlife. LOL
Tyler was a mountain man.
Now this is the life. The babies had a great view of the stream as they rocked and napped.
Wyatt says he climbed this rock and sat on it all by himself.
Bailey said she won't tell a story she had help from the man in the yellow shirt.

Meditating in the Great Smokey Mountains

Unfortunately we still had to feed Bailey her bottles, and the fun of the park still did not make her hungry.
Even more picture to come.....
P.S. Please don't forget those prayers. Bailey has her GI appointment today at 3PM.

Guess where we have been

Originally we were suppose to go to the beach this last week with Lee's family but due to the fumes from the oil the doctor advised us not to go. We were very disappointed that we would not get to spend time with everyone. We really needed to get out of town so we decided to make the long trek to Gatlinburg. It is a wonderful place to go but a lengthy drive.

On Tuesday when we arrived we met up with Lee's grandmother so she could see the twins for the first time.

Maw Maw Hutcherson and Great Aunt Billie Mae with all the kids
On Wednesday we went to an indoor water park. Well, indoor water park does not mean air conditioned water park. It was too hot for the babies so we only stayed about an hour. We let Lee and the big kids stay, and we picked them up later.

A very rare serious Wyatt look

It was too hot for Bailey to wear her top.

Lee and Brianne enjoyed the lazy river.

Feeding Woes

Lee and I both took Bailey to the Doctor last Wednesday. She had gained 10 ounces in 2 weeks. We both started laughing and Lee said it is going to be real hard to get the doctor to believe she has a feeding problem with that weight gain. I told him I could not help that I was adding a little something, something (extra formula powder) to make her gain weight. I refuse to let her lose weight just so I can prove she has a problem. All you need to do is listen to us and you would realize it is serious. She only takes at the most 19 ounces of milk a day. She should take around 30 ounces . He looked at us funny when we said we had to hold her down to get any milk in her. She will take her hands and try to bat the bottle out of her mouth. She cries during feeding. There is only one time she takes a bottle well and that is just when she is getting up from a nap and is still groggy. We have to hold her bottle with one hand and with that same hand push her cheek into the bottle. With the other hand we have to do a jaw lift. Talk about hand cramp!! At this point I think the only way it could get worse is to have to get a feeding tube. This all started in April for Bailey and has only steadily gotten worse. My dad said a while back that he did not think it could get worse. Well it could and did. If it does not get better before Wyatt's surgery we will have to take her with us because no one but us can feed her. I hope the GI doctor will have some answers.

Weight on Wednesday June 16: 12 pounds, 8 ounces

The Catch Up

6/1
Big sisters are a lot of help. They sometimes get on the floor and act like a baby.

This is Brianne's first black eye. The picture doesn't do it justice.
6/1
We were able to see BeBe, Granddaddy, and Sophie on their way to Birmingham. We are so glad they were able to stop and visit.

6/7
Brianne started gymnastics and swim lessons. She is not so thrilled with the swimming but loves the "trampoline" at gym. She is giving me her "gymnastics" pose.
6/7
Bailey is still doing ok with eating solids. She has her days. Drinking milk is still a BIG problem. We have an appointment to see the GI doctor June 29. I pray that this gets better soon. I don't know how much more we can take.
She loves to rub the food all over her face even getting it in her eyes.
6/10
It is so sweet to see them grab each others hand and hold on to each other. Wyatt just laughs when he sees her.
5/31
The physical therapist said that once they start holding their feet she does not worry about them as much. Who would have thought grabbing and holding onto your feet was a major milestone. Wyatt has even tried a taste of his, and it must have tasted bad because he made an awful face.
6/11
Bailey has even joined in the fun.
Tyler has taken advantage of the situation around here. For a week or more he had been telling me that he could put his own self to bed. Lee went up to his room, and this is why he doesn't want us up there. To think this picture is after he "supposedly" cleaned up his room. I wish I were rich. I would have a nanny and maid.

Eating Issues

We continue to have horrible eating issues with Bailey. It is a struggle to get her to take 3.5 ounces at a time, and we rarely get that much down her. We saw the occupational therapist on Thursday. We discussed her reflux, and I really think we need to see a GI doctor to help with her reflux. I think the eating issues stem from this. I am afraid that if we don't get a handle on this problem we are fast approaching a feeding tube. The OT said that there are worse things than a feeding tube, but I think we need to avoid one if possible. Lee and I are going to both take her to the Dr on Wednesday and see if we can't get something done.
We have seen dramatic improvement in Bailey's eyes. It has been nothing but a miracle. The last week she even looks and focuses on us when we say her name. All of your prayers have worked miracles. Please help us pray for Bailey's eating issues.

I promise I have pictures and things to say but I have been unable to load my pictures. I hopefully will get it fixed soon.

Guess What We Did

June 5, 2010
We did it........

The ole cereal trick. Poor Wyatt went first. He was not thrilled and does not like it. I think we will probably have little success till we add fruit to the cereal.

Originally we were going to wait till later to attempt feeding Bailey. Her feeding issues are so bad that we thought she would only gag and throw up. The doctor had agreed that we should wait and let occupational therapy help her learn. After thinking about it I just could not leave her behind and not at least try. It was the best decision I have made in a while. She loved it and even opened her mouth for the spoon. I have never had one do this on the first try.

By the end she figure out to put her fingers in her mouth to help her suck it on down.
Great success Bailey!!!

Test Results

I wanted to quickly post that the ERG/VER results were called to me today and he said it was good. He said she had good seeing potential. Now we need the MRI so we will have a full picture. I took them for a weight check today. I saw the Dr and we discussed the fact that she has still not seen the occupational therapist for feeding issues and is on the waiting list. Now they are trying to get us in to see the feeding clinic at Childrens so cross you fingers and say a prayer we get an appointment.
Weight checks:
Bailey: 11 pounds 14 ounces
Wyatt: 13 pounds 5 ounces
