Bailey's Eye Appointment

Bailey's eye appointment did not go as I was hoping. From what the Dr and I could tell she does not appear to see at all from one eye. The other eye seems to be minimal also. He asked me about head bleeds and any abnormalities of the brain. All her head ultrasound in the NICU were normal. Her retina and eye structure did not seem to be abnormal. He seemed puzzled by her lack of sight and said he wondered if there was a problem somewhere from the brain to the eye. She will have a VER/ERG at the end of May. This will show how the retina responses to light stimulus. In August she will have an MRI of the brain. Due to her prematurity she is unable to have the MRI before June. I think not having it done till August is very excessive. She is on a cancellation list. I really wish I had asked for them to try to find another location to do the test. I am sure that another large city does MRIs on infants.
It was a very trying and stressful day. We waited for 2 hours in the waiting room before they ever called us to put the drops in and then we had to wait again. We spent 3 hours in the office and less than 15 minutes of that was spent with staff and the rest was wait time. Ridiculous!!!! After all of this we were all exhausted. Wyatt call attest to that....

Twelve weeks ago today we brought Bailey home. Just like with Wyatt it felt just like we were going to the hospital to give birth again. I was so nervous, excited, and scared.

What a difference 12 weeks make!!

Above they fit comfortably in one nap nanny. Now I have to stuff them in it to take a picture.

The big kids love to get a package in the mail. Grandma and Mr. Steve sent them their Easter presents and gifts from when they went to Cozumel.

For a few weeks now we have noticed that Bailey has not been progressing like Wyatt. Wyatt smiles, coos, and "talks" to you. He looks at you and can follow you with his eyes. Don't dare let him see you when he is in the swing and suppose to be going to sleep. Bailey does none of these things. Six weeks ago when we went to the Dr I can remember telling him that Bailey focuses her eyes better than Wyatt. She no longer seems to see anything. I can talk to her and she turns her head the other way. We went to the Dr today, and he tried and could not get her to look at or focus on anything. We will go back to the eye dr next Wednesday. I hope it is a problem that can be corrected with glasses and not a problem with her brain. Does it never end? When do things get better?

Weights
Bailey 10 pounds 5 ounces
Wyatt 11 pounds 13 ounces

We did it

We took back our bed. The nursery is not decorated but there are now two cribs. As of Friday night they are sleeping in their nap nannies in their own bed. Thanks Maw and Granddaddy!

Poor Bailey. Just enough hair for funny pictures...

First Easter Basket

This is the last of the Easter pictures. I promise!
Maw gave Wyatt and Bailey their first Easter basket.

The Easter bunny could not resist leaving them a little something. I am sure they will enjoy Easter more next year. I hope both are walking by then.

We went to the doctor yesterday for a weight check. They just keep growing and growing.
Wyatt: 11 pounds 1 ounce
Bailey: 9 pounds 12 ounces

Easter 2010

Easter morning the kids woke up to a basket from the Easter Bunny. Brianne dressed up just for the occasion. I am sad to say that later that day she lost all her dress up clothes due to coloring on things in her room. I hope one day she will earn them back.

Sweet Tyler is always excited no matter what he gets. The smiles and stuff he says when opening his gifts are priceless.
Brianne got Brittany the chipmunk, and Tyler got Alvin.

Mac wanted in on the fun.
I wish we could have gone to Church to celebrate Easter and Jesus. God gave us two precious gifts and knows why we can't go.
We went to the park to try to get some picture. It is VERY hard to get 4 children to cooperate.

We decided after the pictures that we were hungry so I went to a gas station to get some snacks. The kids loved the picnic. I told Lee that our family is so big we need two sheets to fit us all on. I am so thankful for all the glorious weather we are having. I definitely have cabin fever.

Saturday's Easter Egg Day

On Saturday Maw and Granddaddy came up to go with us to an Easter egg hunt.We are so glad they came up because it allowed us to take the babies and all go. We are still on "house arrest" from germs so we had to make sure we were well away from everyone at the hunt. People probably thought we were stand offish but unfortunately this is the way it has to be. If this was only for one year I would have said one of us could miss the hunt and stay at home with the babies, but next year we will again be on "house arrest." Both babies have very fragile lungs, and this is especially the case for Bailey. On a couple of our many Drs visits I have had to tell a couple of children not to touch the babies. I tried to explain to them why. RSV season ends the last part of April so we will then be able to go out some. We will still have to make sure we are not around large crowds, and anyone who holds them must not have been sick in the last 2 weeks. We will also carry around our usual sanitizing gel. Our simple cold could put them back on the ventilator.
Brianne with her basket from Maw
Tyler with his basket
The babies at the egg hunt. This stroller does not make it easy to be inconspicuous. It is like a magnet for older ladies. They love babies!
Brianne was a egg hunting machine. They really did not hide them hard enough for Brianne.

Tyler loves to talk. He talked the poor lady to death while she found the eggs for him.

I really like this hunt because they also told the kids about the true meaning of Easter.

Bathtubs and Highchairs

3/31/10
Wednesday was the first time that Wyatt and Bailey used the baby bathtub.
Wyatt was not thrilled with the bath experience. Every time I put water on his chest and belly he cried.
Bailey seemed to like her bath. She only cried when I got the "butterflies" out of her ears. For anyone who has seen her umbilical hernia, you can tell in this picture that it is getting smaller. I wish it would hurry up and close up so that would be one less thing to worry about.
Spiky hair
Yesterday we put the highchair together so we decided to give it a try. Wyatt just smiled and cooed while he sat in it. I never could get a picture of him smiling because the flash always scares him. In the last few days it is like a light bulb has gone off in his head. He does not sleep as much and anytime he is awake you better be right there paying him attention. Bailey stills seems to lag a week or two behind him so she still likes to sleep.

Bailey could care less. She just wants us to stop trying to keep her awake.

All I have to say is that I tried to tell her she was too big.
