Am I Still Sane?

Absolutely not!!! We have transferred to yet another hospital. This time it is Bailey going for a ride. Today she was transferred to Baptist South. They have a ventilator, the oscillator, that East does not have. The Doctor wanted to transfer her today while she was still stable. Both she and Wyatt have pulmonary interstitial emphysema and believe me you don't want to google that one. It is a condition some preemies develop due to immature lungs. The nurse that took her at South said Bailey was loving the oscillator. The nurse said that Bailey is a feisty one. She should have Wyatt one day. He is a very active little man. Bailey just doesn't like people to bother her, and she also does not like light and noises. I pray that she continues to love the oscillator until her lungs have healed enough to come off the ventilator.

Wyatt is "having a good day."(knock on wood) Good days for him seem so few and far between. They have been able to wean his FIO2 and respiratory rate down some.

We are praying for 2 miracles.

Bad Day

Wyatt and Bailey both had a very bad day. I don't know that I can face another day like today. I sure hope some sleep helps my attitude. Please continue to pray for healing for both Wyatt and Baileys lungs.

12 Days Old

Since Wyatt has decided to make the entire last week all about him I thought I would post a picture the nurses took of him.
Wyatt's life in the last week:
He flew to Birmingham in a helicopter. He had major abdomen surgery for which we are thankful turned out to be the best case senario. Daddy comes home and was home for less than 24 hours before Wyatt decides he wants him back up there. He is restarted back on Dopamine for his blood pressure and of course we begin going up on the ventilator. We are going the wrong way on the ventilator. They keep saying this is typical preemie behavior. I keep saying I wish I were not a respiratory therapist. Ignorance would be bliss.

Bailey's life this week:
Just hanging out and chilling. I think God knows that if both were acting like Wyatt Lee and I would not survive the stress. She has not come off the ventilator again. They started feeding her on Saturday and have slowly been progressing the feedings. She still weighs 1 pound 7 ounces which is good since they lose weight at first.

Mommy in the last week:
Mommy has cried in more places than you can imagine. I even cried at Target. I try to avoid places where people know me because they will ask about the babies. I try to get other people to answer the phone so I don't have to answer questions that I just can't answer at this time. I continue to be thankful that I am still here to raise my children.

Updates

As most people have heard today. Wyatt was life flighted to UAB hospital for surgery to remove a section of his intestines. He did good during the surgery, but due to his extreme prematurity we do not know if this will occur again. We are praying that this is just a bump in the long road to him coming home one day. Before surgery they removed his eye patches, and I was finally able to see his face. We were also allowed to kiss the top of his head which is the first time either of us have touched him.

Bailey was taken off the ventilator today for a trial on CPAP. They called a few minutes ago to let me know that she was put back on but is again stable. I am sure that she will have many failed trial periods off the ventilator. If that is the biggest problem we have with her we will be very blessed.

Wyatt will be not be returned to the hospital that Bailey is at so unfortunately we will have a baby in Montgomery and one in Birmingham which will be about 85 miles apart. Poor Tyler and Brianne will just be hanging out. We will have to find some sense of normalcy for them. We have not told them that the twins are here, and we will wait till we see how things will go.

Everyone has asked what they can do for us. What we need the most is prayer.

Baby Update

It's Bebe posting again.

We visited with Lee, Regina, and the babies today. They are all still doing well. Regina should be released from the hospital tomorrow. She was up and around some today and walked down to the NICU with us to see Wyatt and Bailey. This was Granddaddy Bo's first time to see them. He said he had never seen babies that small before, but was pleased at how well they are doing.

They are both off of blood pressure medicine and are still on the vent, although it is still turned down low. They were kicking their little legs and moving their arms quite a bit. That was great to see.

We hope that Regina will soon feel up to posting, so watch for it!

They Have Arrived!

Hello, this is Becky Rigby, Regina's mother-in-law (a.k.a. Bebe), posting tonight.

The babies are here! Wyatt Cole and Bailey Hope Rigby were born yesterday, October 15, 2009 at 8:13am and 8:15am. I failed to find out from Lee which one was born first. Wyatt Cole weighed 2 lbs and Bailey Hope weighed 1 lb. 7 oz. They are both doing pretty good. They are both on ventilators that are turned down low. They have both been given some blood pressure medication, today, to help bring up their bp a little. Considering everything, I think they are doing very well.

Regina got VERY sick the night before they were born. She was pretty pale and weak yesterday, but sounded better/stronger on the phone tonight when I talked to her. She was able to go see the babies in the NICU today. Many people have asked what hospital they are in. They are in Baptist East in Montgomery.

We plan to go see them again on Sunday, so I will try to post again Sunday night.

OB Triage Visit #3

Please Lord let number 3 visit to the hospital do the trick for me and the babies. Please let me be able to keep them in at least until 34 weeks. Amen

I am on complete bed rest until further notice. So in other words until I deliver I am sure. I would give my right arm for a lap top computer. I wish there was somewhere I could get one to rent for a few weeks. Anyone know somewhere that rents lap tops?

Catching Up

The weekend after the football game we went to the beach. Sorry no pictures! Hopefully I can talk BeBe into sharing some with us. Tyler has been busy with school. We have been working really hard at home with reading. He is doing a great job and has improved tremendously. As of yesterday he has brought his grade up in reading up to an A. Brianne still struggles with disliking school. I am looking for somewhere else to place her. It would be nice for it to be closer to home. It would be helpful when the twins come not to have to travel as much.

Update...Bebe added pictures!

The twins and I have already made two trips to OB Triage, and we are just 24 weeks. I think we are trying to break the record for most visits to the hospital. I really could do without the drama, but I think they like it. I was certainly hoping to make it to 38 weeks, but now I would be over the moon to make it to 36 weeks. I am sure as we go along that expectation will be lowered also. This is what I get for planning.

Alabama Football

September 12th Tyler and Lee went to an Alabama Football game. Where is it fair that Lee (who is not an Alabama fan) gets to go to the game? I have never been to one. I think when Auburn tickets are available I get to go!

Nicholas and Tyler got to play all day while they "tail gated."

Granddaddy and BeBe were there and was able to show them how tailgating was done in style.

While Lee and Tyler were off having a good time without the girls, us girls were here at home playing with all pink.
